Eating and getting by.

Pic of the day 9/365
To comment on the picture for today. When you are working toward something you are passionate about, you don't do it for the money. That being said, never pass up a free meal.

Today's post is in reference to an early post on the "new" news room.

I have been coming across various items in my daily wanders down the information superhighway. Many of these items are examples of what this "new culture" is creating with the advancements in technology. (web 2.0 if you will)

The projects being produced by the new culture seem as though they will be more able to help inspire change in people and the world. They also feel as though they have a greater personal touch than images print or on the web can carry alone.

The projects are mash-ups of still images, audio, and moving images. The craft-fully incorporation of the elements can bring the viewer in more than any print ever could. It is a new and better way of portraying a sense of time and place.

Matt Eich won college photographer of the year for 2007. The link below is to mediastorm.org which has an example of a web 2.0 project that he created. (as well as many others, by other artists) Eich's project is a great example of the mash-ups found across the web today. I will provide links to some of my favorites in the future for your viewing pleasure.
