Surviving another day.

Pic of the day 29/365
On the topic that I mentioned yesterday about the grass not always being greener on the other side and realizing that your is always that bad I found this story today.
I Survived Another Layoff; What's Next for Newspaper Photojournalists?

The link really struck me. I was under the impression that in the newsroom the photographers were a bit safer than others. I guess they are just pulling more and more stories of the AP wire. So this is just another case for the idea that newspapers need to focus on local community news rather than trying to be a national/world news source.
Yes, it is fine to have national/world news. It keeps people in your paper/web site longer.

I stumbled upon another link today. It is a blog of of multimedia projects similar to what I would like to be working on. I found it when they were linked on another site and mentioned Raleigh. The News and Observer is a decent paper that is doing some nice things in the world of multimedia. So here is the link for your enjoyment. It will most likely be a muse for future posts.

Also, starting soon I will be uploading my photos to make it to print for the paper on here in addition to everything else. I need to keep copies of them that are read for the web for a potential client or employer. On days I don't feel a rant come on, I think I will just discuss the photo. Don't expect an amazing shot everyday, some days I photograph nothing. So be on the lookout for the images. I might just upload them to a flickr account and link the account.
