Introduction

Another day at my desk spinning in my chair waiting for assignments. Well, one of my desks. I have another one across from the one pictured, it has my personal computer that I use for my photography and the web. (The one you see in the photo is the company's. It is an ancient machine, running Mac OS 9.1 and only capable of running an old version of NewsEdit IQue I only use it for writing stories.)

I typically begin the morning before a bit before 8am. I have a little trepidation each morning pulling into the parking lot about whether it will be a day of spinning in the chair. I wonder if I will be hounded about the location of images on the server or have the Ad Dept., obit photos and various other things thrown at me all at one time. Many days I receive a call about similar concerns while eating my cereal, not the best way to begin the day but, when you deal with media and news it seems like you are always on call. Putting out a paper seven days a week is a lot of stress on the staff, but it gets done. The end of the year and beginning of a new one is has left the well of news dry , so the pails have been filled with Associated Press stories.

Today I got a very vague assignment, basically an address and time those are always fun. Walking into an unknown building unsure of whom to ask for. I walk in and tell them that I am a photographer with the paper and everything typically goes ok. Sometimes I will get a glance followed by "Picture man! What TV station are you from?" oh the joys of the poorly educated. This is what happens to people after they leave the public schools which only teach people to pass a standardized test so the school can get more funding.

I have made some other resolutions which includes doing my own stunts, attempting to blog everyday, 365 photo project (which will be shown in this blog) and being more awesome!(if that is possible)

The blog and 365 project are two things that I hope will bring me something to fill the free time I have and allow me to be a more creative individual. The 365 project is something that I feel is needed at the moment, it will force me to be creative and have something I must do each day. My daily photographing for the paper doesn't allow for much creativity.

I am glad that some days involve spinning in a chair.
