A piece of the pie

Everyone wants one, and so do I.

In hopes of a career/life full of wonderful journeys and much much more, I am making sacrifices daily. These sacrifices include the frozen pizza you see to the left.

The paper is in a small transitional stage in an effort to get their piece of the pie (maybe it is more like re-heating a piece from the day before). A new website will be launched Jan. 14th. I see it as a major step for the paper being that they are about eight years behind in the game. I assume that this is coming after a realization that keeping up with the pack and generating revenues from the advertisements is worth the effort. The new site will allow for photography to be seen by the masses, including images that didn't make it to print. Readers will be allowed to interact and comment on images and stories (I predict that reading those will be a wild ride).

The new website was something I hoped that I could push the paper toward once I joined the team. I felt I had a good pitch for why they should move forward. It was a move that was made without my well crafted spiel.

During the conference call today I felt as though the publisher was mildly impressed with me. It was hard to judge being that it was the second time we were in the same room for more than thirty seconds (the one other time was ended with an awkward comment by him in the restroom, but that is another can of worms).

The upgrade will allow me to have a bigger piece of the theoretical pie during my stay in Lumberton. I will be getting more images out to more people which cant really be a bad thing. For the time being I just need to keep my chin up and barrel through.

It is now cold outside, though it is not expected to last long. The puddles that remain from last week's rain turned to ice overnight.
